Instructions:

Sauté Vegetables:

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a small skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.

Add the finely chopped onion and bell pepper; sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.

Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground Italian sausage, sautéed vegetables, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, dried parsley, beaten egg, Italian bread crumbs, crumbled white bread, milk, Parmesan cheese, and 1/4 cup of the shredded mozzarella cheese.

Using clean hands, mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.

Transfer the meat mixture into a baking dish, shaping it into a loaf.

Spoon 1/2 to 3/4 cup of marinara sauce over the top, spreading it evenly.

Bake:

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 50 minutes.

Remove from the oven and sprinkle the reserved 3/4 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese on top.

If desired, sprinkle a pinch of dried basil over the cheese for added flavor.

Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
