If you're short on time but crave the taste of freshly baked bread, this quick and easy recipe is perfect for you. In just 20 minutes, you can have a warm, homemade loaf ready to enjoy.

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)

1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

1 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)

2 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for greasing)

Optional Add-Ins:

1 tablespoon dried herbs (such as rosemary, thyme, or oregano)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds

Instructions:

Preheat the Oven:

Set your oven to 450°F (230°C).

Place a baking sheet or cast iron skillet inside to heat up while you prepare the dough.

Prepare the Dough:

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, yeast, and salt.

Pour in the warm water and olive oil. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead gently for 1–2 minutes until smooth. Avoid over-kneading.

Shape the Loaf:

Form the dough into a round or oval shape.

If desired, sprinkle the top with your chosen herbs, cheese, or seeds.

Use a sharp knife to make a shallow slash across the top to allow for even expansion during baking.

Bake the Bread:

Carefully place the shaped dough onto the preheated baking sheet or skillet.

Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Cool and Serve:

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for a few minutes.

Slice and enjoy warm, perhaps with a pat of butter or a drizzle of olive oil.
