Texas Turtle Sheet Cake is a delightful twist on the classic Texas Sheet Cake, combining rich chocolate flavors with caramel and pecans to mimic the beloved turtle candy. Here's a recipe to make this indulgent dessert:


Ingredients:


For the cake:


2 cups granulated sugar

2 cups self-rising flour

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup strong black coffee

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 large eggs

1/2 cup buttermilk

For the frosting:


1/4 cup unsalted butter

4 tablespoons buttermilk

3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

For the topping:


1/2 cup chopped pecans

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)


Instructions:


Prepare the Cake Batter:


In a large bowl, combine the self-rising flour and granulated sugar. Set aside.

In a saucepan over medium heat, mix 1 cup of butter, strong black coffee, and 1/3 cup of cocoa powder. Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a boil.

Pour the hot mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Using a hand mixer on medium speed, blend until well combined.

Add the eggs and 1/2 cup of buttermilk to the batter. Continue mixing on medium speed until the batter is smooth and uniform.
