Cook Time: 12–15 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Servings: About 32 bites
Ingredients
- 1 (8-ounce) tube refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 8 hot dogs, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, cut into small cubes
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven.
- Heat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
-
Prepare the filling.
- Cut the hot dogs into 1-inch pieces.
- Cut the cheddar into cubes slightly smaller than the hot dog pieces.
-
Prepare the dough.
- Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into triangles.
- Cut each triangle into smaller rectangles or strips, large enough to wrap one hot dog piece and one cheese cube.
-
Assemble.
- Place one hot dog piece and one cube of cheddar on each piece of dough.
- Wrap the dough around the filling, pinching the seams tightly to seal.
- Arrange seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each bite.
-
Bake.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the dough is puffed and golden brown and the cheese has melted.
-
Cool slightly.
- Let the bites cool for about 5 minutes before serving, as the cheese will be very hot.
-
Serve.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
Optional Variations
- Add a slice of jalapeƱo for a spicy version.
- Sprinkle with Everything Bagel seasoning before baking.
- Wrap each hot dog piece in cooked bacon before adding the cheese.
- Use cocktail sausages (Little Smokies) instead of regular hot dogs.
- Brush with garlic butter after baking.
- Substitute pepper jack, Monterey Jack, or mozzarella for the cheddar.
Storage
- Refrigerator: Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
- Freezer: Freeze baked or unbaked bites for up to 2 months.
- Reheating: Bake at 350°F for 8–10 minutes, or air fry at 350°F for 3–5 minutes until heated through.
