This 3-Ingredient Cherry Dessert is basically an easy dump cake / cobbler-style dessert — warm cherries on the bottom with a buttery cake topping.

  • 1 can (about 21 oz / 595 g) cherry pie filling
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • ½–¾ cup melted butter (about 115–170 g)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven

  • Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Add cherries

  • Spread the cherry pie filling evenly in a baking dish.

3. Add cake mix

  • Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the cherries.
    Do not stir.

4. Add butter

  • Drizzle melted butter evenly over the top to cover as much of the cake mix as possible.

5. Bake

  • Bake for 40–50 minutes until:
    • Top is golden brown
    • Cherry filling is bubbling

6. Cool slightly

  • Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Tips

  • Do not mix the layers — this is what creates the cobbler texture.
  • If you see dry powder spots, drizzle a little extra melted butter on top.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for the best taste. 🍒🍰
