This 3-Ingredient Cherry Dessert is basically an easy dump cake / cobbler-style dessert — warm cherries on the bottom with a buttery cake topping.
Ingredients (Only 3)
- 1 can (about 21 oz / 595 g) cherry pie filling
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- ½–¾ cup melted butter (about 115–170 g)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven
- Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Add cherries
- Spread the cherry pie filling evenly in a baking dish.
3. Add cake mix
- Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the cherries.
Do not stir.
4. Add butter
- Drizzle melted butter evenly over the top to cover as much of the cake mix as possible.
5. Bake
- Bake for 40–50 minutes until:
- Top is golden brown
- Cherry filling is bubbling
6. Cool slightly
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
Tips
- Do not mix the layers — this is what creates the cobbler texture.
- If you see dry powder spots, drizzle a little extra melted butter on top.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for the best taste. 🍒🍰
Easy variations
- Use apple, peach, or blueberry pie filling instead of cherry.
- Try chocolate cake mix for a Black Forest–style dessert.
