Many women are surprised when they begin noticing coarse, dark hairs appearing on the chin area. And while one or two stray hairs can be completely normal — especially as hormones fluctuate with age — persistent or increasing chin hair growth can sometimes reflect changes happening inside the body.

1) Hormonal Shifts

As women get older, estrogen may decrease while androgens (male-type hormones) can become more dominant. This shift can encourage thicker facial hair growth — especially on the chin.
