Every bite of this Cinna-bun Cake transports me to my grandmother’s warm, inviting kitchen, where the sweet aroma of cinnamon and sugar filled the air and love was always the key ingredient. Passed down through generations, this recipe holds the essence of family gatherings, laughter, and the timeless joy of baking together.
Ingredients
For the Cake:
-
3 cups all-purpose flour
-
1 cup granulated sugar
-
1 tablespoon baking powder
-
1 ½ cups milk
-
2 large eggs
-
8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Topping:
-
1 cup butter, softened
-
1 cup brown sugar, packed
-
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
-
3 teaspoons cinnamon
For the Glaze:
-
2 cups powdered sugar
-
⅓ cup milk
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
-
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients for the cake. Blend them together until smooth. Spread the cake batter evenly into a well-greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
-
In another bowl, mix together all of the topping ingredients until smooth and creamy. Drop spoonfuls of the topping mixture over the cake batter. Use a butter knife to swirl the topping through the batter.
-
Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a knife or toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
-
While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze by combining powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Mix until smooth.
-
Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and pour the glaze over the warm cake. Let the glaze set before serving.
